Way to go High School Knowledge Bowl Team 2008

Some of our HS student participated last week in this year’s AASCA Knowledge Bowl competition.  Basically, Knowledge Bowl is an interdisciplinary academic competition involving teams of four students trying to answer questions in a written round and several oral rounds. No team is eliminated in this event, and every team participates in every round. Knowledge Bowl is a power competition in which team groupings are rearranged after each round on the basis of their total points accumulated.

CAG’s Got Talent by Corey Topf, 8th grade teacher

On Oct. 30th, the Middle School Section at CAG held a talent show to spotlight the different abilities of sixth, seventh and eighth grade students.  The field had been narrowed down from more than 30 students to just seven; by the time Jaguar Productions presented the final round in front of an auditorium roaring with middle school students.  The Jaguar Productions’ x-block created a 10-minute video of rounds one and two, which they presented to the crowd, right before the final round was introduced by hosts Cristina G., Felipe S., and Paula I.

Nos estamos aproximando al final del año.  Es el deseo de APM celebrar esta bella época con una noche familiar y cultural: nuestra esperada Noche de Luces. Este año las entradas para Noche de Luces estarán a la venta en el Colegio a partir del 13 de noviembre.  La pre-venta nos ayudará a evitar largas filas el día del evento así como garantizar la seguridad de los miembros de nuestra comunidad.  Por lo tanto les solicitamos su colaboración al comprar las entradas  de forma anticipada ya que el día del evento no estará a la venta.  A continuación  encontrarán información detallada de cómo adquirir sus entradas.

Time Invested In Practicing Pays Off For Young Musicians, Research Shows

ScienceDaily (Nov. 5, 2008) — A Harvard-based study has found that children who study a musical instrument for at least three years outperform children with no instrumental training—not only in tests of auditory discrimination and finger dexterity (skills honed by the study of a musical instrument), but also on tests measuring verbal ability and visual pattern completion (skills not normally associated with music). Teens urged to halt online bullying

MONTPELIER — The father of a boy who killed himself after being bullied online says it's up to young people to stop the growing problem of "cyberbullying." John Halligan of Essex Junction told the story of his 13-year-old son, Ryan, to about 290 students from around Vermont on Thursday in a conference about cyberbullying. READ MORE
