The Parent Teacher Association is an active, supportive, voluntary group at CAG. The PTA's primary purpose is to join the efforts of both parents and teachers in order to achieve positive results which will greatly benefit the school. The PTA's major role is to support the School in its activities, such as Book Fairs, the “Illuminating the Arts” performance, student recognition ceremonies and athletic events.
The PTA organizes and carries out fund-raising events such as the Annual Festival and Family Bingo Night, in which the entire school community comes together to share in the fun activities and a diversity of food. The funds raised are used for several purposes, the majority of which support specific school projects. In past years funds have been donated for the construction of two soccer fields, hardware in the technology labs, playground equipment, etc.
The PTA also uses some of the funds for celebrations organized for teachers, secretaries, and service personnel to show appreciation on behalf of the school community for their work. Another part of the funds are used for community service activities in several establishments, especially those dedicated to the education of children in Guatemala. The PTA serves as a link to communicate opinions and concerns from parents and teachers to the school’s administration.
