The 5 Stages of Dealing with Grief and Sorrow

Emergency info for today

There is no emergency information at this time.

Emergency preparation

  • At school:
In an emergency situation the school has established procedures to keep your children safe. There is an emergency committee that meets regularly to review these procedures and evacuation drills are being performed to be prepared for an emergency. In the event of an emergency, the Administration will begin the telephone calls to alert the entire community as to the steps to follow. There is a telephone tree organized already and you will be called when needed.(Click here to view the Telephone tree).

  • In the car:
  • If tremors begin while driving in a car or bus, you should do the following:

    1.        stop the car/bus in an area that is free from power lines, bridges,        buildings, etc.
    2.        stay in the car/bus and hold on until the tremors end
    3.        evacuate the car/bus searching for a safe area.
    4.        try to make telephone or radio contact with the home or school

Letter to parents in case of a major emergency

Dear Parents:

Because our school is located in an earthquake region, we want to remind you that, in the event of an earthquake occurring, the following procedures will be followed:

No student will be dismissed from school unless a parent (or guardian or employee designated by the parent) comes for him/her and signs their release.

  • No child will be allowed to leave with another person, even a relative or employee, unless we have advance written permission or that particular person is listed on the student'semergency file. With this in mind, if your child's file is not up-to-date, please ensure the information is updated on the NEW re-registration forms.
  • All parents or designated adults who come for students must sign them out at the office OR at the emergency evacuation stations at the Montanita (grades K-5) or on the High School Football field (grades 6-12).
  • We are prepared to care for children for 48 hours in the event of a critical situation or if parents are not able to reach the school. We have a number of people with first aid certificates and we will be in communication with local emergency services.

We ask for your cooperation in the following areas:

  • please do not call the school; we must have the lines free for emergency calls

  • following an earthquake or other emergency, do not immediately drive to the school streets and access to our school may be cluttered with debris; the school access route and street entrance areas must remain clear for emergency vehicles
  • turn on your radio to TGW 1000 AM, Emisoras Unidas 89.7 FM or Sonora 96.5; information and instructions will be given over the radio.
  • Check our website for updated messages.  We hope that they will be functioning

Your children’s safety and well being is our main concern.
