The High School faculty and staff would like to welcome you to The American School of Guatemala. We hope that you have had a relaxing summer and that you are ready to begin the 2007-08 school year.
Frequently, I am asked what makes The American School of Guatemala (Also known as Colegio Americano de Guatemala-CAG) so special? My answer is quite simple - people. The people who are at CAG provide a wonderful place where youth and experience come together for the singular purpose of learning about life and living.
Students, Imagine:
Teachers who really care
Stimulating discussions
A safe and secure environment
Education for the present and the future
An outstanding college placement record
Starring in a school play
Mastering a foreign language
Playing an exciting interscholastic sport
Solving complicated math problems
Researching current issues on the World Wide Web
Exploring the mysteries of Science
Participating in a variety of Community Service Projects
These are the kinds of experiences available to you at The American School of Guatemala.
I am privileged to be the High School Principal at CAG and to be able to daily observe the dynamic interaction of its members. Henry David Thoreau said, "If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put foundations under them." At CAG, we believe the education we offer is the foundation upon which students may build their dreams.
Best of luck to each of you as we begin the 2007-2008 school year. Every challenge is an opportunity to succeed. Be a part of that success. Bring your very best effort to each endeavor and good things will happen. Enjoy your time at The American School of Guatemala.
