Dear CAG parents,

Greetings once again from the college counselors. Below we have listed a few other WONDERFUL summer opportunities for your son or daughter.

This first one is The Pennsylvania Governor's School together with Lehigh that offer a summer entrepreneurial program for sophomores and juniors. There are 2 partial scholarships available for the 2 top students that meet Lehigh's requirements. Below is the site if you are interested in reading more:

We have the contact for this program, so let us know if you and your son or daughter is interested.

This second opportunity is a leadership program. Here is a blurb from Virginia International University describing the program:

As part of this never-ending process of progressing in the business world, currently VIU has developed a summer youth leadership program that will empower students to enhance their skills to become outstanding leaders in today's global environment.
The VIU Summer Youth Leadership program has been specifically designed to
provide valuable and unique leadership experience and personal growth
opportunities for students interested in future leadership careers in
business, government, and educational organizations. Professors and guest
speakers will include international ambassadors, distinguished university
professors, elected high level U.S. government officials, representatives
from local governments, and business leaders.

Lastly, The Carnegie Mellon program is another excellent opportunity for growth and exploration this summer. Here is another overview explaining the focus of this program:

Are you going to be a junior or senior in high school? If so, consider spending June 30 to August 10, 2007 in one of our seven distinct Pre-College programs. You can either explore architecture, art, design, drama, music or the National High School Game Academy to prepare yourself for study at the college level. Through our Advanced Placement/Early Action program, you can take two challenging college courses in order to gain advanced placement and get a head start in college.

Our Pre-College programs will show you what life at Carnegie Mellon is all about - from the classroom to what's happening on weekends. You'll meet people from all over the world, be inspired by our world-renowned faculty, take part in the excitement of campus life and have the opportunity to explore the city of Pittsburgh .
