your project

Part 1 - Online Resources |
First review the ICT quick guide that is on the Technology link on the main page of CAG website. ICT quick guide is located under Help Desk.
Then go to the CAG online resources for teachers (Faculty services on website). There you will find the following:
Webmail – View the introductory video. Login to your personal email account to send and receive messages, use the folders, use the groups’ on directory, enter your personal contacts, customize your signature and use your account online.
Edline
1. Create your account if you don’t have one. You will need an activation code, ask the technician for it.
2. Class pages - click on your class pages and post welcome messages for students and parents, class syllabus and expectations, teacher information and contact. Change the picture. Review how to post assignments, links, news, etc.
3. Calendar - add the dates for your class quizzes and due dates for important assignments. You can go to Help at the top of the page at any time to find instructions on how to edit or enter information in each area.
Reservations system – Watch the video to see how it functions. Check the rules on how to book the different resources for your classes . Register yourself and create your account. Make some reservations, modify them and delete them.
Worshop sign in – Go to the professional development link under Faculty Services. Watch the video to know how to sign in for workshops. Go to the workshop sign in file by opening file maker, once the application is open click on view located on the menu, then find mode, type your name, click find. Then click on the arrow at the left side tag name listado and select individual record, scroll down to other workshops and update your profile with the conferences, workshops and courses you took this summer.
ATLAS – Log in and review your curriculum map in order to plan your first project. If you don't have your username and password email mhirst@cag.edu.gt to ask for it.
Library resources
Discovery streaming – In the network drive //storage/commons there is a folder with tutorials. You can find the Discovery streaming there. It will give you directions on how to create your account and how to explore and use the application. Download a video you could use in your first unit to teach.
Noodletools – When you click on the application you can watch the video (in Spanish) that explains how to create your account. After creating your account, create a folder that you will use for bibliography for the first project with your class. Create the bibliography of a website.
EBSCO-This is a good database to begin with and introduce students to the use of online databases. If you login from the school you don't need to enter a username and password.
Destiny – Online CAG library catalog. Once you click on the link you select Colegio Americano de Guatemala. Then you can perform searches for books.

Part 2 -Gradequick |
Configure your personal electronic grade book using Gradequick. When you access Edline, at the Command Center section you will find the trimester grades link. After clicking on it the gradebooks window will open. To select the class go to window.
- Review your classes.
- View/Edit the class options to define: categories and the percentages assigned to each category.
- Review the attendance settings. Check how to send attendance to Admin Plus.
- Add assignments and grades.
- Sort your students in alphabetical order.
- Review the tutorials on how to work with the charts, and print your grades.
- Progress Reports in Edline & Report Cards - Review the steps on how to work with the software either to post reports to Edline or send them to Admin Plus. Make sure to check how your students will view the report.

Part 3 - Sample
Project |
Design a student sample project to let the students and parents know what your class will be about, which are your expectations for the class and the grading procedure. You can use any of the following options:
Multimedia presentation using MS PowerPoint
Newsletter or brochure using MS Publisher
Video using Windows Movie Maker
Include the format to present research project reports, essays or any other work. An example of a bibliography using MLA format and using MS Word
Include a graph that shows your grading procedure using MS Excel
Remember to always cite the source information correctly following the Bibliography guide provided by Noodletools.
Ask your technology advisor which are the skills of your students on each software so you can plan it appropriately.

Part 4 - Rubric |
Design an evaluation tool to assess student learning based on the sample you created. You can use some of the following online tools to develop rubrics and checklists:
PBL Checklists in 4teachers.org
Rubistar in 4teachers.org
Rubrics Generator in Teach-nology.com
Once you have the student sample and the evaluation tool, you can assign the project to your students with clear expectations for them.
