Timeline for your project
Week 1 - WebQuest Topic & Task
Download the WebQuest Template and save it in your computer.  Select a topic that you can use during the school year.

Write an introduction to your WebQuest that will give students some background about your topic. Try to interest them. Then describe clearly what the end result of the learners' activities will be. Don't list the steps that students will go through to get to the end point.

Examples:

An Insect's Perspective (Science & Literacy 2)

The Children's Pool (Science & Literacy 5)

Snapshot in Time (Lang. Arts/Hist./Soc. Sci. - 8)

Week 2 - The Evaluation

Describe to the learners how their performance will be evaluated. The assessment should align with the culminating project or performance. Specify whether there will be a common grade for group work vs. individual grades.

Examples:

Family of Nations (Literacy & Hist./Soc. Sci. 1-3)

The Ocean's in Trouble (Science 4-5)

Biotech, Inc. (Biology 9-10)

Week 3 - The Process

Now that we are done with the task you need to tell the students what steps should they go through?

Students  will access the on-line resources that you've identified as they go through. You might also provide some guidance on how to organize the information gathered.
 

Examples:

Meeting in the Mitten (Science & Literacy K-2)

Westward Ho! (Literacy/Soc. Sci. 3)

The Amistad Case: A Mock Trial (U.S. History 11)

Week 4 - Resources

Identify for the students which resources they may use to complete their task(s). Other resources may include:

  • PowerPoint software to develop an informative slideshow
  • Any URL links provided in this section
  • Classroom Encyclopedias
  • Periodicals from the Media Center
  • Others

Week 5 - The Conclusion

Summarize what the learners will have accomplished or learned by completing this activity or lesson. You might also include some rhetorical questions or additional links to encourage them to extend their thinking into other content beyond this lesson.

Examples:

Farmers, Farmers Everywhere (Interdisciplinary 3-6)

Finding the Lighthouse Diamond Thief (Science 6-8)

A City in Space (Science/Technology 9-12)
