Welcome back, hope you had a wonderful vacation and are full of new energy to have fun and enjoy another school year.
I would like to update you regarding what is happening now and during this school year in the area of Technology.
Based on the audit made back in May 2008, we have been working little by little to provide teachers, students and parents with technological resources that will enhance the teaching and learning process. There is a technology plan 2009-2012 in place. The technology committee will resume their meetings again this year. A Technology Coordinator position has been implemented. There are new network connections in Middle School, Elementary, Early Childhood and Administration buildings, as well as the EC, ES and MS section offices. The whole campus has now wireless connections and we have upgraded the bandwidth from 20 to 60 Mbps. Every classroom in school has now a mounted projector, and every Elementary and Early Childhood classrooms has ebeams as well. Middle School and High School has 8 mimios and 10 ebeams available for their use. Elementary will pilot a mobile lab of 30 iPads2 and High School will have a newly laptop mobile lab. The Library has 3 sets of 25 clickers and there is another one in the EC section. There is an Elmo in each section.
The Technology department has been reorganized and the services have been centralized. There are new servers in the data center for storage and for back up services. We have moved to Google apps and all students will have cag email addresses beginning this year!
You also have done great job by getting used to the new implementations we have made, meeting with the TIS in your section and integrating technology in your classroom.
For the 2011-2012 year, we will begin a new cycle of a three year PD plan that will focus on three areas. Technology integration will still be a tool by which to accomplish the new goals. Teachers should continue working to complete all online modules. TIS will share last year Technology Literacy assessment results and work with you on areas needing improvement.
 The teacher technology expectations posted on the website remain valid for this school year. Please read them now so you keep them in mind during the school year.
Please take time to review the ICT quick reference and sign the online AUP agreement. Lets work toward a ¨green¨ and safe culture by using resources wisely.

Bienvenidos de nuevo, espero que hayan tenido unas vacaciones maravillosas y están llenos de nueva energía para divertirse y disfrutar de otro año escolar.
Me gustaría ponerles al día sobre lo que está sucediendo ahora y durante este año escolar en el área de Tecnología.
Con base en la auditoría realizada en mayo de 2008, hemos estado trabajando poco a poco para ofrecer a los profesores, estudiantes y padres los recursos tecnológicos que mejoren el proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje. Existe un plan de tecnología para 2009 a 2012. El comité de tecnología reanudará sus reuniones este año. La posición de Coordinador de Tecnología se ha puesto en práctica. Hay nuevas conexiones de red en la sección Intermedia, Primaria, Preprimaria y edificios de la Administración, así como las oficinas de EC, ES y MS. Todo el campus tiene ahora conexiones inalámbricas y hemos mejorado el ancho de banda de 20 a 60 Mbps. Cada salón de clases cuenta ahora con un proyector instalado, y todos los salones de clases de Primaria y Preprimaria con un ebeams. Las secciones Intermedia y Secundaria tienen 8 y 10 mimios y ebeams disponibles para su uso. La sección Primaria implementará como proyecto piloto un laboratorio móvil de 30 iPads2 y Secundaria con un laboratorio móvil de nuevas laptop. La Biblioteca cuenta con 3 juegos de 25 clickers y hay otro en la sección de Preprimaria. Hay un Elmo en cada sección.
El departamento de Tecnología se ha reorganizado y los servicios se han centralizado. Hay nuevos servidores en el centro de datos para el almacenamiento y la copia de seguridad de los servicios de almacenamiento. Nos hemos mudado a aplicaciones de Google y todos los estudiantes tendrán a partir de este ciclo direcciones de correo electrónico del CAG!
Ustedes también han hecho un gran trabajo al acostumbrarse a las nuevas implementaciones que hemos hecho, reunirse con el TIS de la sección e integrar tecnología en sus clases.
Para el año 2011-2012, iniciará un nuevo ciclo de tres años del plan de Desarrollo Profesional, que se centrará en tres áreas. La integración de la tecnología continuará siendo una herramienta para alcanzar los objetivos de estas tres áreas. Los maestros deben continuar trabajando en completar los módulos en línea que no hayan completado. El TIS de su sección compartirá con usted los resultados de su evaluación de Alfabetización Tecnológica y trabajará en las áreas que necesite mejorar.
Las expectativas de tecnología para los maestros que se encuentran publicadas en el sitio web siguen siendo válidas para este ciclo escolar. Por favor, leálas ahora para tenerlas en cuenta durante el año escolar.
