Network and Equipment
Since 1997 we have a local network (CAGnet) connecting to the Internet each of the classrooms, the five computer labs, the Library, the Administration and Central Offices, Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle School and High School offices, Auditorium, Swimming pool ares, gym, rooms for teachers and various administrative offices. The current connection is 60 Megabit.
On the Intranet, students and teachers have access to various resources such as printers and scanners, cameras, clickers, smartboards, elmos and electronic databases, educational software and application files, the academic database, educational portal (Edline) and directories, and e-mail that facilitates communication between parents and teachers.
In 2002, wireless was implemented in the Library. In 2003, this connection was implemented in other areas of campus.
Currently the entire network has been renewed to implement the wireless connections throughout the whole campus.
We have a plan for renewal every four years for equipment, so in recent years there has been renewed 80% of computers and network equipment asset.
Currently the equipment consists of 24 library computers, a scanner, three projectors, two electronic whiteboards, two laptops, DVD and 75 clickers. It was also added a mobile laboratory that has 24 laptop computers and a Macintosh lab. Macintosh laboratory was established to provide a work space for publications of a higher level and editing videos in an easy and fun way. This laboratory is used primarily by students engaged in the yearbook of the School and students from Early Childhood. It has an electronic whiteboard, multimedia projector, color printer, scanner and 24 Macintosh computers. We also have 15 video cameras and 10 digital cameras available to students and teachers.
In the laboratories of the remaining sections High School, Elementary and Middle School there are at least 30 to 40 desktop computers, 2 digital cameras, scanner, color or B & W laser printer, electronic whiteboard, multimedia projector.
In the Elementary section there are also 2 carts with 25 Alphasmarts each and a mobile lab with 30 iPad2. In the Middle School sect ion there is another lab with 25 laptops, a Promethean board and a projector. In the High School section there is a mobile lab with 30 laptops.
Software
In 2000, the School signed a contract with Microsoft in which it is stated that we are part of a "campus agreement." This allows us to use the company software on all computers at school. Yearly licenses are purchased and educational software applications such as Inspiration, to create concept maps and other graphical patterns of organization of ideas; Brainpop, allowing access to a vast collection of educational video clips related to the educational content, EBSCO, database with appropriate information to the educational environment, Adobe CS5.5, in which students learn to work web pages, animations and online publications; Photoshop, to create arrangements with photographs and develop creativity among students; Reading AtoZ offers books Online reading for children in Early Childhood and Elementary; Noodletools, online tool for writing and keep a record of bibliographies, and several titles for the practice of the correct use of the keyboard. We also have other online services such as curriculum and an educational portal that allows us to publish information for our students and parents.
Red y Equipo
Desde 1997 contamos con una red local (CAGnet) conectando a Internet a cada uno de los salones de clase, los cuatro laboratorios de computación, Biblioteca, Administración Central y Oficinas de Preprimaria, Primaria, Intermedia y Secundaria, Auditorio, Piscina, Gimnasio, salones de profesores y diversas oficinas administrativas. La conexión actual es de 60 Megabits.
En la Intranet, los alumnos y maestros tienen acceso a varios recursos tales como impresoras y scanner, clickers, smartboards, elmos, bases de datos electrónicas, software educativo y de aplicación, archivos de control académico, portal educativo (Edline) y directorios personales, así como correo electrónico que facilita la comunicación entre padres y maestros.
En 2002, se implementaron conexiones inalámbricas en el área de Biblioteca. En 2003, se implementó esta conexión en otras áreas del campus.
Actualmente se ha renovado toda la red para implementar las conexiones inalámbricas en todo el campus.
Contamos con un plan de renovación de equipo cada cuatro años, por lo que en los últimos años se ha renovado un 80% de las computadoras y del equipo activo de red.
Actualmente, el equipo de Biblioteca consta de 24 computadoras, un Scanner, dos Proyectores Multimedia, dos Pizarrones Electrónicos, dos laptops, DVD y 75 clickers. Además se agregó un laboratorio móvil que cuenta con 24 laptops y un laboratorio Macintosh. El laboratorio Macintosh se creó con el fin de ofrecer un espacio para trabajar publicaciones de un nivel más alto así como la edición de videos en forma fácil y amena. Este laboratorio es usado primordialmente por los alumnos que desarrollan el libro anual del Colegio y los alumnos de Preprimaria. Cuenta con un pizarrón electrónico, proyector multimedia, impresora a colores, escáner y 24 computadoras Macintosh. Además contamos con 15 cámaras de video digital y 10 cámaras de fotografía digital que están a disposición de alumnos y maestros.
En los laboratorios de las secciones restantes Secundaria, Intermedia y Primaria se cuenta con 2 cámaras de fotografía digital, scanner, impresora láser byn o a colores, pizarrón electrónico, proyector multimedia.
En la sección Primaria se cuenta además con 2 carritos con 25 Alphasmarts cada uno y un laboratorio móvil con 30 iPad2. En la sección Intermedia se cuenta con un laboratorio extra con 25 laptops, un proyector y una pizarra Promethean. En la sección Secundaria contamos con un laboratorio móvil con 30 laptops.
Software
En el año 2000, se firmó un contrato con Microsoft en el cual se establece que formamos parte de un “campus agreement”. Éste nos permite utilizar el software de dicha compañía en todas las computadoras del colegio. Anualmente se adquieren licencias de software educativo y aplicaciones tales como Inspiration, que permiten crear mapas conceptuales y otros esquemas de organización gráfica de ideas; Brainpop, que permite el acceso a una vasta colección de video clips relacionados con los contenidos educativos; EBSCO, base de datos con información adecuada al ambiente educativo; Adobe CS5.5, con el cual los alumnos aprenden a trabajar páginas web, animaciones y publicaciones en línea; Photoshop, para crear arreglos con fotografías y desarrollar la creatividad de los alumnos; Reading AtoZ, ofrece libros de lectura en línea para niños en Preprimaria y Primaria; Noodletools, herramienta en línea para escribir y llevar un récord de bibliografía; varios títulos para la práctica del uso correcto del teclado. Además contamos con otros servicios en línea como lo es el currículum y un portal educativo que nos permite publicar información para nuestros alumnos y padres de familia.
