K-12 APPLICATION PROCESS

Welcome to the American School of Guatemala (CAG), and thank you for your interest in our school. We are delighted that you are considering CAG for your family.
CAG is an independent, non-profit, non-denominational institution that offers a rigorous academic program modeled after the best educational practices and methodologies of the United States. CAG is founded on the principles of a coeducational, bicultural (Guatemala–United States), and bilingual (Spanish–English) learning environment. We proudly serve Guatemalan and international families who value a holistic approach to education. Respect for religious, political, social, and cultural diversity is a fundamental part of our school’s identity.
CAG is fully accredited in the United States by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and is recognized by the Ministry of Education of Guatemala as an “Escuela de Ensayo.” As a member of the Grupo Educativo Del Valle, CAG is actively committed to advancing education in Guatemala.
Application Process
Before completing the application process, we recommend to have the following documents at hand:
- Applicant photo
- Birth certificate
- Passport
- Academic record
- Solvency letter from previous school
- Parents' photo
- Parents' ID/Passport
- Consent
- Proof of employment
Application Fee
- Submit the application fee receipt (Q3,000) as part of the checklist items.
- The application fee is only valid for the school year for which the application is submitted. This fee is required prior to an evaluation by the school.
- This fee is non-refundable and stands until replaced with the subsequent Schedule of Fees and is therefore subject to change.
Admission Assessment
- Once all the items on the checklist of the application have been submitted and received, the Admissions Office will schedule the admission assessment and will communicate the upcoming assessment dates.
- After all steps are completed, the Educational Admissions Committee will review the completed file and make the final admissions decision.
- The Admissions Office will communicate the decision directly to the parents (2-3 weeks after the admission assessment.)
Engaging in the Guided Assessment or any other aspect of the application process does not constitute a guarantee of admission or the availability of space at CAG.
CAG reserves all rights pertaining to the admission process.
